Ok, sorry if I sound daft but what is your group then? Is there sometimes rivalry between different groups? I think I read somewhere that people from your own group are treated like part of a family, is that true? My teacher is from Cordão de Ouro group (founder Mestre Suassuna).

I'm still trying to get to grips with the philosophy of capoeira!

Than you must live in the land of milk and honey, my friend. :-)

Iīm into Grupo Capoeira Brasil Alemanha, Prof. Cigano. Here in Germany, and I guess anywhere else in the world, some groups like each other some do not. For example, we invite more or less regular other groups to big rodas and most of them who shown up, behave and we do have friends among them. For a few you can smell the competition in the air and see it in the roda while itīs heats up. Some groups never shows up and a little number will not be invited. There is competition and there are rivals between the groups. And some are close to, well letīs say, not liking each other. Sometimes itīs because of a split, sometimes about personal thing. Nevertheless if a Capoeirista will need a place to stay, I have no problems to let him/her sleep at my place. For that we are like a big family. But like in real families, we donīt need to like as all in the same way. :-)

BTW, sorry for not being around for a while. We are close to elections in parts of Germany and so my party (Piratenpartei Deutschland - Pirate Party Germany, in US: http://pirate-party.us/) needs all my attention.
